Before/on the launch of Gundam 00, I want to have a contest(s) for some prizes. I have a couple of things at home (ie: very nice art books of Gundam Models from Japan), photo album of Athrun, a Gundam Wing model that I want to give away. I figure, they're sitting at home, not doing much so I may as well give them away to people who would enjoy them!

I need ideas for contests; probably 3 or 4 prizes in total.

Previous contests haven't been all too successful in the past, so your input would be great!

1. Fanfiction Contest.

2. Website Graphics Contest (like a web banner for the website).

3. I don't recommend this one as not many can do it (and plus, there isn't really that much of a need for it), but an Promotional AMV Contest (something that advertises the forum). Just an idea, but I don't think we should use it.

4. An Essay Contest, detailling an Anime Review, Character Review, anything like that.


That's all I can think of.

Before a contest is held, I believe that you should make sure that there is interest in a contest, not just with a handful of people, but enough people to make the contest a contest.

As for the contest itself, there are various ways to have people compete. Apart from just writing and graphics, we could have a GTT tournament or a quiz of some sort dealing with various anime or just based on gundam in general.

All of the members should be... well, if not all, majority should be involved to make it more fun

2. Fanfiction: Create another world, another universe
3. Grahics Contest(Banner, Logo, layout etc....)
4. Anime Review: The winner also gets published in the official website.

and...

a treasure hunt! You'll give clues wherethe answers are scatted in the forum or the website. The first one, or the first few who crack and solve or finds it, wins!

Like rock & heavn say, I too agree it should be something people are interested in; so I'll definitely make a poll before.

I don't have many prizes, and they're worth at least $15-20 ea plus the cost of shipping the items. Other prizes I'm thinking of are just putting user's avatars (or button/names) on GS.net main site; or give them some publicity as an incentive. I think people would appreciate this just as much as something tangible, because I don't even know how many people would even think of giving their addresses to me lol ^^

Also, I'm thinking that contests that a lot of people can participate in would be better (for real physical prizes)... the publicity prizes can be much more specific so it's more fair to all.

Treasure hunt might be a bit difficult =) Although if theres some genius that wants to create one... go right ahead ^^ Should be interesting. And this treasure hunt's gotta be extreme... lol, maybe I might do this if I can think of (or you can think of) a really good way of doing this.

The problem with a treasure hunt is, it's not going to be a real treasure hunt with members actually digging for the answers on the forum/site. The senior members know more than others and other members tend to just ask them for the answer. Basically the more MSN contacts you have the more likely you're going to do well.

Unless this treasure hunt is like crazy hard and not even the senior mods/admins know the answers.

Also, I like the idea of an essay or anime review contest. Or maybe, even a debate tournament lol.

Maybe instead of giving them questions you can ask them to actually find items. Like, for example, "Find AG's first SOTW entry" or "What is the last word in Afe's 600th post" lol.

I think the splash page needs a bit of a makeover, so one of the contests will be for the splash page, I believe it's been there since 2003/4, I can't even remember who made it anymore; the credit I gave for it was lost because the creator's page had broken link.

All I remember was site was called Seed-Mode-On

But anyways, I think its time for a little bit of a makeover

Actually, my idea of a treasure hunt was some thing like a "detective case" thing where there are clues that Afe or the organizer has given and it is up to the contestants to think of how to solve and find it. Kinda like a buried treasure with a map with cues.

I agree with the fanfic idea. It's fair as long as the judging is, and it's practically impossible to cheat.
